Turkey's first and the world's 13th "upside-down house" opened by a group of entrepreneurs in southern Antalya province's Kundu district is recently very popular among local and foreign tourists visiting the region.

Built on a 300-square-meter area in the Güzeloba neighborhood, the house is spread over an area of 85 square meters. The house is the center of attention particularly of professional photographers flocking to see the house's interior architecture. As a marginal example of architecture, the house is the joint project of Turkish partners Kaan Karahan and Görkem Cantürk along with their Russian partner Tanya Makarova.

The house cost double that of a traditional building. It is expected to attract 200,000 visitors annually. "Our Russian partner once said Antalya has everything apart from an upside-down house and made us an offer. The project took a year to complete," he said.

The upside down house is at a 25 degree angle with the ground, making visitors dizzy as they enter. The house's roof and ceiling are on the ground and furniture was placed on top. Karahan said they are planning to add a child's room next year. "Visitors can take photos and leave the house with an unforgettable experience. When they reverse the photo, they will see the furniture is in the right place, but they look as if they were hung from ceiling," he continued.

The entrepreneurs are planning to take the project step further and open upside-down houses in Istanbul, Ankara and ─░zmir in the upcoming period. Karahan noted the difficulty of placing kitchen and bedroom furniture in the house. Makarova, a physician, added that visitors feel dizzy when they enter the house. "It is a first in Turkey," she said. The house is open from 09:00 a.m. to 08:00 p.m. with a small entry fee.
